The Hokey Toki
The Hokey Toki is a new cocktail on our roster, but has proven quickly to be a favorite around here. The beverage utilizes Japanese whiskey, which has recently become a fresh and exciting addition to whiskey shelves around the country.
The Hokey Toki was created by one of our lead bartenders, Tim Johnson. He envisioned an alcoholic beverage that would mimic a Japanese Highball. Traditionally, the Japanese Highball is made with soda, filtered water, and grapefruit. His goal was to blend that beverage with the heart of an old fashioned. To bring out the citrus flavor in the cocktail, he stirs the beverage with the grapefruit rind before pouring the liquid over hand-cut ice – leaving the grapefruit rind in the shaker. The Benedictine brings a sweeter flavor, and the cardamaro blends it all together.
The Hokey Toki is a completely unique cocktail that continues to wow our guests. We love watching creativity flow through the minds of our talented staff, and bringing their ideas to the taste buds of our patrons.
2 oz. Suntory whisky Toki
.5 oz. cardamaro amaro
.5 oz. Benedictine
2 expressed grapefruit peels
Three dashes of Regan’s orange butters
Build all liquor components in mixing glass. Express two grapefruit peels in glass. Fill with ice and stir. Serve over large ice cube with grapefruit peel garnish.
